Friday 25th July. Womad: Cambodian folk dancers and Altai Throat-singers

The Children of the Khmer dance group from Cambodia gave a fascinating performance.
After an initial blessing/prayer

they ranged through a variety of dance styles. Some where clearly very traditional and from a royal court setting....

Another, dance-drama was of a Hindu religious epic of Hunaman, Rama and Sita..... or something of the kind (!) .....fascinating to watch anyway!....







The performance also included such fun pieces as the "Coconnut Dance"....as performed by another group here:




and a dance-drama telling a romantic tale of hardworking rice farming girls meeting returning fishing trip guys


Later in the day I was enthralled by the throat-singing of the group "AltaiKAI" from the Republic of Altai, ( near the Chinese/ Mongolian/Russian border region)
